Romeo Ferraris names Stefano Coletti to drive the Giulia ETCR

Friday, 19 March 2021

Romeo Ferraris announced Stefano Coletti as its first driver for the 2021 PURE ETCR. The 31-year-old driver from Monaco will have the opportunity to drive the Alfa Romeo Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris next week at Vallelunga, during the ETCR official test, which will be the first appearance of the car designed and built by the Italian engineering company.

Coletti has proven his skills mostly with single-seaters, winning races in Formula 3, Formula Renault 3.5 and GP2, before switching to sportscars and GT more recently. 2021 will mark his touring car debut.

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager said: “We will be involved in the 2021 PURE ETCR as a constructor, rather than in a customer racing position like in the past, and this entails greater responsibilities. The choice of drivers is never trivial and opting for Stefano is a very motivating move as we embark together on this new journey. He is a fast driver, very determined and still young in the world of tin-top car racing. This electric project is new for everybody and represents a great opportunity for all players involved."

Coletti commented: “I was very happy to be called for this season by Romeo Ferraris. The trust placed on me, despite my experience with touring cars is almost nihil, makes me happy and gives me motivations to do my best and repay the team for offering this opportunity. To be able working closely with a constructor in the development of a new car is definitely a challenge, but we are not afraid and are actually boosted to go for great results. We are anxious to take the track!”
