Tuesday, 26 April 2022

Bruno Spengler joins to the Romeo Ferraris line-up for the FIA ETCR alongside the previously announced Maxime Martin and Luca Filippi.

The Canadian had his first contact with zero-emission racing cars in 2018/19 as test and reserve driver in Formula E. Between 2005 and 2019 he raced in DTM, securing the title in 2012 finishing twice as runner-up (2006 and 2007) and three times third (2010, 2011 and 2013).

Spengler said: "I am approaching the FIA ETCR with great enthusiasm, returning to Touring Car racing with fully electric cars. I had experience as a test driver in Formula E, discovering the potential of this technology, but the race sensations it offers are something completely different. Last year, as a spectator, I appreciated Romeo Ferraris' ability to bring a competitive project like the Giulia ETCR to the track. Now it will be nice to be able to give my contribution and fight together for prestigious results.”

Michela Cerruti, Team Principal Romeo Ferraris commented: "Having Bruno, one of the most successful drivers in the DTM, joining our team testifies that the potential of our Giulia ETCR is recognized and that a championship for fully electric touring cars arouses great attraction. We are proud to have accepted this challenge from the beginning and to now welcome Bruno in our team.”
