WSC president Marcello Lotti, IMSA president John Doonan and Hyundai Motorsport’s development driver Augusto Farfus took part earlier today in a zoom press conference at Daytona International Speedway, talking about the presentation of the ETCR category to North America’s motorsport insiders and fans within the frame of the famous Rolex 24-hour race.
Doonan said: “We are very proud of the partnership with WSC that lead to successfully run the TCR class for a fourth season within the Michelin Pilot Challenge and to be able to show this demonstration of ETCR today at Daytona is very special for IMSA. This initiative aims for showcasing the efficiency of new technologies in motorsport, something that has always been an important mission for all of us. Daytona has always been a place to showcase speed, but today, together with WSC and with the participation of Hyundai Motorsport we are pleased to say that Daytona is the place to show both, speed and efficiency. You take a look at the Hyundai Veloster N ETCR and you realize it is an extraordinary piece of machinery. This is the first step, because we always want to offer the best platform to the manufacturers.”
